ClownTown is an interesting blend of horror and thriller that really leans into its unsettling atmosphere. The story follows four friends who find themselves lost in this creepy, abandoned town, only to be pursued by a gang of clowns who are anything but funny. The pacing has a nice build-up, with tension slowly increasing as they realize they’re not alone. What stands out is the practical effects – the makeup on the clowns is genuinely chilling, and the way they use shadows to play on fears is effective. Performances are pretty solid too, especially considering the budget. It’s not ground-breaking, but it’s definitely distinctive in its approach to the whole creepy clown trope.
