Cocaine Angel is one of those films that really immerses you in a specific time and place. It’s rough around the edges, giving a raw portrayal of addiction in Jacksonville, Florida. The pacing's a bit languid, almost like it’s mirroring the protagonist's slow descent. You can feel the heat and desperation through the screen—everything's so gritty. The performances are pretty haunting too; they don't hold back. I mean, there’s a certain kind of authenticity that comes from such a stripped-down approach. It’s got that sense of hopelessness, but there’s still a flicker of what once was. Definitely stands out in the indie scene from 2006.
