Practical effects and some solid choreography keep the action grounded, which is refreshing. The dark atmosphere amplifies the sense of desperation and moral ambiguity. And then there's William Porter, Sikes' protégé, who adds a bit of a moral counterpoint. It’s not perfect, but there’s something about its raw energy that grabs you.
