Contact, directed by Robert Zemeckis, really nails that blend of drama and science fiction. Jodie Foster's performance as Dr. Ellie Arroway is just captivating. The film takes its time, weaving through the complexities of belief, science, and the human experience. The pacing might seem slow to some, but it builds tension and philosophical depth really well. The visuals, especially the wormhole effect, are a nice mix of practical and digital effects that hold up surprisingly well. The score by Alan Silvestri adds an emotional layer without overwhelming the scenes. It’s one of those films that makes you think about humanity’s place in the universe long after the credits roll.
