Crooked Earth

The story follows Will Bastion, who returns home after 20 years to bury his father, the former chief of the Ngati Kaipuku tribe. Faced with the pressures of family legacy and modern challenges, Will grapples with his reluctance to inherit his father's role while his younger brother, Kahu, embraces a more turbulent path.

Kahu leads a group involved in drug dealing, complicating Will's return and forcing him to confront the clash between Maori tradition and contemporary issues.
