Cry Freedom

Set in an unnamed country, Cry Freedom is based on Meja Mwangi's novel, Carcase for Hounds, which explores the Mau-Mau uprising. The film presents a powerful narrative centered on guerrilla leader Haraka and his conflict with English colonial official Kingsley.

With a runtime of 70 minutes, the film pays homage to freedom fighters across Africa, culminating in poignant final images of influential leaders such as Patrice Lumumba, Steve Biko, Nelson Mandela, and Amílcar Cabral. As a part of the Afrocult Foundation's production, it highlights the significance of political themes in African cinema and the broader struggle against colonialism.
