Curse of the Deserted

The film follows young writer Guo, portrayed by Shawn Yue, who explores the titular curse in his book, "The Deserted Village." This curse began 500 years ago when a widow named Yanzi vowed to stay with her deceased husband, only for him to return from the dead. The villagers, believing him to be a monster, burned him and his mansion, prompting Yanzi to take her own life in despair. The village became cursed, with mysterious deaths plaguing its inhabitants, particularly targeting couples who are unfaithful.

As the story unfolds, Guo and his ex-girlfriend Zhi are drawn back to the village along with four college students who wish to investigate the legend. Their journey leads them to an ancient well in Yanzi’s mansion, awakening the curse once more. The film combines elements of horror and folklore, appealing to fans of supernatural narratives and those interested in tales rooted in historical themes.
