Darbujan and Pandrhola

The story follows Kuba Dařbuján, a poor miner who is devoted to his wife Markýtka and their eleven children. When a new baby is born, Kuba seeks a godfather and ultimately accepts a pact with Death, allowing him to heal the sick under specific conditions. However, when he breaks this pact to help a miserly brewer, he inadvertently traps Death, leading to a chaotic world where no one can die.
