Dark Waters is a wild ride, blending action and horror in a most unusual setting. The film grips you with its relentless pacing, throwing you right into the chaos of an oil rig under siege by sharks with a nasty appetite. The atmosphere is thick with tension and dread, and the practical effects used for the shark attacks, though not always perfect, lend a gritty realism that you don’t see much of in today’s CGI-heavy flicks. The performances, especially from Dane Quatrell, are solid, grounding the outlandish premise with some genuine moments of fear and survival. It’s a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which adds to its charm. Definitely a unique entry in the genre, if you appreciate a good creature feature with a bit of grit.
Interesting take on creature horror.Great practical effects for the time.Solid atmosphere and pacing.
