Darmiyaan: In Between

The story follows Mazhuddin Khan, known as Immi, who is born in 1939 in Bombay. His mother, Zeenat, struggles with her denial about his identity, leading to a strained relationship where she refers to him as her younger brother. As Zeenat rises to fame, her life becomes increasingly complicated by personal loss and emotional turmoil.

Zeenat's affair with Inder Kumar Bhalla ends in heartbreak when he leaves her for a younger actress, Chitra. In her bitterness, she turns to gambling and alcohol, distancing herself from the film industry and alienating those around her. The narrative takes a turn when Immi becomes the father of a male child, Murad, prompting Zeenat to confront her destructive behaviors. Ultimately, it is Immi who helps bring her back from the brink of self-destruction, showcasing the film's exploration of love and redemption amidst adversity.
