Das Geheimnis vom Bergsee

The story follows Pietro Ponz, who lives a seemingly happy life in the mountains along the Swiss-Italian border with his mother, Lamberta. Unbeknownst to everyone except Lamberta, Pietro is actually a girl, a truth hidden due to a series of tragic events in their past. Following the death of her husband and the loss of her infant son, Lamberta raises her daughter as a boy to secure a future inheritance from her husband’s wealthy family.

As Pietro approaches adulthood, Lamberta’s decision to disguise her daughter faces challenges. Pressure mounts from family members and educators who believe Pietro should attend a religious school. In a bid for freedom, Pietro escapes and becomes involved with a gang of smugglers, leading to a life filled with danger and further deception.
