The film follows four nuns in a women's monastery in the Eifel as they navigate the news of their monastery's impending sale by Bishop Rentschler. The Prioress agrees to the sale, leading to outrage from Novice Ruth and concern from Bittner, the local shopkeeper, about the former Prioress Philippa's well-being.

As tensions rise, a mediator named Ulrike Purscheck is sent to the nuns to facilitate a discussion. However, her motivation seminar meets resistance, with the nuns reluctant to embrace change, except for Sister Brionie, who shows interest in the new ideas presented. This clash of perspectives sets the stage for comedic moments and heartfelt interactions as the characters confront their circumstances.
