DeepStar Six is one of those underwater horror flicks that tries to show the terror lurking beneath the waves. It's got this eerie, claustrophobic feel, thanks to the setting of an experimental nuclear base. The pacing feels just right, moving from exploration to panic as the crew realizes they’ve awakened something monstrous. The creature effects are practical and gritty, adding a nice touch to the tension. The performances are solid, with a mix of desperation and teamwork that gives you a real sense of dread. It has a bit of that late 80s charm, but also a genuine sense of threat that feels distinct from other underwater films. Definitely a unique entry in the genre.
