In this film, patrol officer Ida Sörensen and her colleague Emma respond to urgent cries from the church tower, only to find themselves in a life-threatening situation. When a man threatens a young woman with a knife, a series of events unfolds that leads to a tragic outcome. Emma shoots the attacker, resulting in the young woman's fall, which raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As Inspector Frieda Olsen considers the case closed, Ida begins to investigate further, suspecting that the initial explanation may not tell the whole story. The narrative deepens as Ida uncovers that the victim, Bente Bruun, was an investigative journalist who had been feeling threatened in the days leading up to her death. With a hidden notebook and various characters vying for its contents, the tension escalates as Ida finds herself in danger while seeking the truth.
