Derailments

This documentary combines still photography and moving images to tell the story of how Fellini's vision transformed after his death in 1993. The film includes an interview with Milo Manara, a long-time collaborator with Fellini, who discusses the existential themes present in the graphic novel. The interview is intercut with scenes from the graphic novel and recreations of lost footage from the original story's first scene.

Produced by Fabrica and premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011, Derailments presents a distinct exploration of dreams and fantasy. Shot across locations in Milan, Italy, and Koln, Germany, the documentary captures a blend of artistic expression and historical context surrounding Fellini's work.
