Dessau Dancers

In the summer of 1985, the release of the American film "Beatstreet" sparks a breakdance craze among young people in the GDR. The 18-year-old Frank forms a dance group called the "Break Beaters" with his friends in Dessau, quickly becoming leaders of the breakdance movement in their region. As they perform on the streets, their growing popularity draws the attention of the state, which seeks to control youth activities.

In response, the GDR transforms breakdancing into "acrobatic show dancing," positioning the "Break Beaters" as a showcase troupe. They are sent across the country to perform and are celebrated like rock stars. However, the fame comes with significant challenges as Frank starts to realize the costs associated with their newfound status.
