The film begins with a water-skiing accident that propels the protagonist, Stan, into a coma. Upon waking, he discovers genealogists searching for someone connected to his identity. Instead of confronting the reality of his situation, Stan pursues Professor Starkov's legacy, which leads him to the country of Las Estrellas.
