Die Nacht im Grenzwald

Set in a small town near the Czechoslovakian border, Die Nacht im Grenzwald tells the story of Albert and Fritz, close friends caught in the political struggles of their time. Albert's family is deeply affected by the Nazi regime, with his anti-fascist father in hiding and his mother imprisoned. Fritz, on the other hand, grapples with his father's withdrawal from politics, unaware of the illegal activities his father engages in.

As they confront the Hitler Youth and their Nazi teacher Wagner, the boys take a drastic step by hoisting a red flag on the town hall. This act leads to dire consequences for their families, particularly when Fritz's mother succumbs to pressure during interrogation. The narrative culminates in their desperate flight across the border into Czechoslovakia, highlighting the perils of standing against oppressive regimes.
