Different Fortunes

The story follows a group of young Leningraders as they transition from school to adulthood. Sonya is infatuated with Styopa, who is entangled in a love triangle with Tanya, who in turn is drawn to Fedya. As their lives unfold, Styopa departs for Siberia, seeking new opportunities while Sonya pursues him, finding work at the same factory.

Tanya and Fedya marry and navigate the challenges of college life and financial strain.
