The film follows the lives of two children, Emilia and George, who develop a strong bond despite their families' differences. Emilia is the daughter of a wealthy general, while George lives in the basement apartment with his landlord father. Their friendship faces challenges, particularly from Emilia's mother, who disapproves of their connection.

As the story unfolds, George's artistic talent is discovered by the general, leading him to Italy for greater opportunities. However, upon his return as a successful painter, he grapples with feelings of bitterness stemming from his past experiences with the general's family. Ultimately, the narrative reveals that love can triumph over bitterness and revenge, presenting a rich tapestry of human emotions and relationships, set against the backdrop of a fairy tale.
