Eduard Tobler, a wealthy factory owner, decides to enter a competition held by his own company, wanting a taste of life without riches. Under the alias Meier, he wins a two-week stay at a luxury hotel in St. Moritz, bringing along his chauffeur Johann, who must play the role of a wealthy industrialist. Meanwhile, Dr. Fritz Hagedorn, the true first-prize winner, is mistaken for Tobler and receives royal treatment at the hotel. This sets off a series of comedic misunderstandings as Tobler finds himself in a cramped attic room, facing the mismanagement of the hotel staff.
