The story follows Dowoo, who manages an old motel near a lake that holds a tragic history. He also cares for his mother, who suffers from dementia. One winter day, she vanishes, leaving behind only a small dog. The community rallies around Dowoo to help find her, but as time passes, suspicion begins to cloud their support.
