The story follows Xie Hailan, a renowned Teochew opera performer, who leaves her family in search of opportunities abroad. Her departure creates misunderstandings that lead to years of separation from her husband, Liang Chaosheng, and daughter, Xiaoyun. As Xiaoyun grows up, she grapples with the impact of pop culture on Teochew opera and feels abandoned by her mother.
