Eight Ball is one of those films that lingers in your mind long after viewing. The gritty realism of the prison setting contrasts sharply with the aspirations of an architect, creating a tense interplay of hope and despair. The pacing is a bit slow at times, but it really allows you to soak in the characters’ struggles and motivations. I found the performances to be pretty raw and authentic, giving each character a depth that’s sometimes missing in mainstream dramas. The way the two main characters—one inside and one outside—navigate their fates through the same construction project really highlights themes of redemption and connection. It’s not flashy, but there’s a certain charm in its understated approach and practical effects that ground the story in reality.
