Eternal Love

The story follows Chan Sai-wah, who marries Yam Suk-kuen to honor his late father's wishes. Despite having a son, Kwok-leung, Wah remains unhappy in his marriage due to Kuen's domineering nature. His attraction to the humble Carrie Mui leads him to consider leaving Kuen, but familial pressures complicate his pursuit of happiness.

As Wah and Carrie attempt to forge a new life in Macau, they face increasing misery from Yam's family. Carrie ultimately decides to leave Wah, believing it will free him from guilt. However, Wah grapples with his shame and returns to Macau, where time transforms their lives drastically. Years later, their paths cross again, revealing Wah’s downfall as he resorts to begging while Carrie achieves success as an opera diva. This tragic narrative captures the complexities of love and sacrifice within the constraints of family and societal expectations.
