Faces of Horror is an interesting curiosity piece from 1989. It's marketed in the vein of Faces of Death, but really, it’s more of a patchwork quilt of older public-domain films that American-International released in the 60s and 70s. The pacing feels a bit haphazard, jumping from one scene to another without much cohesion. It has a certain grim atmosphere, though, and the practical effects from those earlier films definitely stand out, even if they’re not always convincing. The performances vary widely—some are quite earnest while others are unintentionally amusing. It’s not a traditional documentary, and you can tell it was crafted for shock value rather than narrative continuity, which makes it a peculiar watch in the horror landscape.
Curious blend of earlier films with varying quality. Not a traditional narrative, more of a shock compilation.Practical effects from the 60s and 70s are a highlight.
