Fake-Out is a curious blend of action and comedy, set against the neon glare of Las Vegas. This 1982 flick directed by Matt Cimber has a unique pacing that often meanders but ultimately builds a quirky charm. The atmosphere is infused with both the glitz of the Strip and the underlying tension of crime. The storyline revolves around a gangster's girlfriend chilling in a hotel, waiting to testify with a trio of cops who are supposed to keep her safe. You get those classic 80s vibes with its practical effects and some unexpectedly humorous moments. The performances are a mixed bag, but they add to that offbeat tone. Definitely one of those films that makes you appreciate the era's lesser-known treasures.
