Fantastic Girls

In 1980, Ayuko transfers to a new school in Okayama from Tokyo, feeling isolated and dependent on her college boyfriend, Hideo. As she draws a romance manga based on her life, she finds an unexpected friendship with her classmate Takemi, who becomes a passionate fan of her work. However, their bond is tested when an incident causes them to drift apart.

The narrative spans 30 years, following Ayuko's journey as she becomes a manga artist and returns to her old high school to give a lecture. There, she reunites with Takemi, who has transitioned into a teacher. This film, with its blend of drama and comedy, captures the essence of growing up and the lasting impact of friendships.
