The pacing is brisk, keeping you on your toes as our anti-hero imposes a head tax on the wealthy, which is both absurd and oddly thought-provoking. The practical effects, especially the inventive gadgets and disguises, are charmingly dated but add to the film's unique atmosphere. The performances are over-the-top in that delightful French way, with Jean Marais bringing a whimsical flair to the character. There’s a certain breeziness to the whole affair, making it a fun watch while still touching on themes of class struggle. Definitely stands out in the series.
