Farewell, Home Sweet Home

The narrative follows Nicholas, the eldest son of a wealthy suburban family. His mother is a businesswoman who conducts deals from a helicopter and has a tumultuous affair, while his father, a cheerful alcoholic, is trapped in his room, finding solace only in his dog and model trains. Unbeknownst to them, Nicholas leads a double life as a window cleaner and dishwasher in a Parisian café.

Nicholas also navigates a complicated romance with the daughter of another café owner, who is caught in an abusive relationship. A pivotal moment occurs when he sneaks some drunken drifters into his family’s wine cellar, leading to an unexpected bond between his father and one of the strangers. The film artfully contrasts the lives of the affluent with the struggles of those in service, providing a unique perspective on wealth and family.
