Farishtay (1991) dives into a tangled web of familial loyalty and betrayal. You’ve got these two brothers, Veeru and Dheeru, who unwittingly find themselves on the wrong side of justice after their sister, Gayetri, marries Arjun. The whole film has this gritty, almost raw feel, especially as it unveils the emotional fallout when Gayetri discovers the links between her brothers and her husband’s murderer, Jaichand. The performances are pretty solid, and there's some interesting action choreography that stands out. The pacing might feel a bit uneven at times, but it adds to that sense of chaos and confusion the characters are going through. It’s one of those titles that might not be on everyone’s radar but definitely deserves a spot in a well-rounded collection.
Farishtay has had a bit of a niche following, which makes it a curious find for collectors. It was released on VHS and DVD, but the DVD format seems to be a bit scarcer out there. Some collectors appreciate it for its blend of drama and action, and while it might not be a top-tier title, it certainly has its own distinct vibe that resonates with fans of early '90s cinema.
