The story revolves around Giulia, a self-confident young woman employed at her father Lorenzo's family-run Trattoria da Lorenzo. Set in Hamburg's Neustadt district, the trattoria serves as a vital hub for the extended family, including her cousins Gino and Luca, and Francesco, who views himself as Giulia's fiancé after a brief affair with her.

In addition to the restaurant, Lorenzo has another source of income through orchestrating small thefts carried out by Giulia and the family.
