Fire Down Below is an interesting mix of action and environmental thriller, set against the backdrop of a small Appalachian town. Steven Seagal plays Jack Taggart, an undercover EPA agent, and you get that trademark Seagal style—lots of physicality and a bit of mystique. The pacing is steady, building tension as he unravels the local conspiracy. What stands out here is the atmosphere, a sort of gritty realism to the Appalachian setting that enhances the stakes. The practical effects hit hard during the action sequences, giving them a raw feel. It’s not Seagal's best, but there's a certain charm and earnestness that makes it notable, especially for folks interested in how environmental issues are tackled in cinema.
