Flashback (1990) is this quirky blend of action, comedy, and crime that really plays off the contrast between its leads. You've got Huey Walker, this laid-back hippie who's been running from the law for ages, and John Buckner, the by-the-book young FBI agent who’s just trying to do his job. Their dynamic is pretty interesting, especially as they navigate a world that’s at once absurd and grounded. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but the humor makes up for it, often coming from the absurd situations they find themselves in. Plus, the practical effects give it a certain rawness that you don’t see much anymore. The themes of societal norms versus personal freedom resonate throughout, making it a unique watch.
