Fog (2007) really captures the essence of youthful restlessness. Set in this quiet fishing village, you get a palpable sense of stagnation and longing. The atmosphere is thick with this sort of melancholic nostalgia, and the pacing is deliberately slow, which kind of mirrors Ricky's own trapped feelings. The performances are quite raw; you can feel the tension between Ricky and his father, painted with layers of expectation and resentment. Telly, the older girl, adds a nice contrast, her free spirit pulling Ricky toward the night and out of his shell. It’s not flashy, but there’s something haunting about how it explores the desire to break free from familial ties. Definitely a film that lingers in the mind.
