Following the Swan Flock of Clouds

This drama, produced by Rīgas kinostudija, tells the story of Mārtiņš Venta, the son of a forest ranger, who becomes an underground activist after enrolling in a Riga gymnasium. His classmate, Dace, a teacher's daughter, faces expulsion for her revolutionary spirit, illustrated by her singing of the song Kā gulbji balti padebeši iet.

As the narrative unfolds, Mārtiņš is drafted into the tsar's army, where he confronts moral dilemmas and ultimately refuses to shoot at a workers' demonstration. This act of defiance leads to his exile. However, before his deportation, he is allowed to marry Dace while imprisoned. The film captures the tensions of the era while exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and resistance against oppression.
