George M! (1970) has this interesting vibe of blending old and new, right? Walter C. Miller takes the Broadway musical and brings it into the TV realm with a fresh approach. The whole thing feels like a rehearsal, and you really get that sense of camaraderie among the performers. Joel Grey, who was also the original star on stage, just shines in this, providing that authentic connection to Cohan's spirit.
