Gerónima

Gerónima follows the life of a Mapuche Indian woman living with her four sons in the harsh conditions of Argentinian Patagonia. Set against the backdrop of the 1976 military dictatorship, the narrative delves into the family's plight as social workers intervene due to their living conditions. This leads to tragic consequences that reflect the broader historical injustices faced by indigenous communities during that era.

The film is based on an interview conducted by a physician while Gerónima was in the hospital, providing a unique perspective on her life. The casting of Luisa Calcumil, a real Mapuche woman, adds authenticity to the portrayal, while Aimé Painé contributes with traditional Mapuche songs that enrich the film's cultural context.
