Godzilla 2000: Millennium is an interesting pivot in the franchise, balancing classic kaiju action with some fresh ideas. Takao Okawara takes the reins here, and you can feel the blend of practical effects and CGI. The pacing has a kind of '90s urgency, with the Godzilla Prediction Network adding a techy twist to the narrative. The effects, especially on Godzilla and the meteor, feel pretty solid for the era, and the film leans more into sci-fi elements than some of its predecessors. Performances are decent, but it’s really the creature this time that steals the show. It has a unique vibe, almost like a love letter to the franchise, while still trying to push boundaries without losing that traditional feel.
