Halloween 4 has a certain gritty charm that really pulls you in. It’s got that late '80s horror vibe, with a sense of urgency that feels palpable. The practical effects, particularly the makeup, are solid and hold up pretty well compared to some of the CGI-heavy stuff today. Donald Pleasence returns as Dr. Loomis, and he delivers once again, bringing that frantic energy. The pacing feels tighter than some of its predecessors, and the atmosphere is thick with dread. It's interesting how they shift the focus to Jamie, Michael’s niece, which gives it a slightly different angle. It’s not without its flaws, but there's something about it that resonates if you’re into the series.
Released on October 21, 1988.Shot on location in Salt Lake City, Utah.Features practical effects by KNB EFX Group.Runtime: 88 minutes.
