Happily N'Ever After is a curious blend of fairy tale whimsy and subversion. Paul Bolger’s direction gives it this quirky vibe, with a colorful palette that pops but isn’t overwhelming. The character designs lean into that classic animated style while still feeling fresh. Ella’s journey from passive to assertive is interesting, though the pacing stumbles a bit in the middle. Frieda, the villain, has some amusingly over-the-top moments that can be a bit much, but they add to the overall fun. It’s not quite on the level of Disney fare, but it has its own charm and a good mix of humor and adventure. Definitely worth a watch if you appreciate unique takes on classic stories.
