Happy Family

The story follows Thijs, a Dutch tomato grower approaching retirement. His adult daughters want him to move into a skyscraper flat, but Thijs decides to stay put, guided by the advice of his half-Moroccan grandson, Omar. The film takes a turn when Thijs, encouraged by Omar, goes on a blind date with Jacky, a lively Flemish woman determined to bring excitement into his life.

As the plot unfolds, Thijs finds himself swept into evening activities, including a dance contest. Meanwhile, Omar struggles with his own issues, particularly his crush on Mergal, a Turkish girl whose brother demands a display of strength in oil-wrestling for any boy wanting to date her. Happy Family presents a humorous take on love and familial bonds, showcasing the challenges and joys of both Thijs and Omar's lives as they navigate their relationships and personal growth.
