Havoc is an interesting blend of crime and drama that tries to peel back the layers on upper-class disillusionment. Barbara Kopple’s direction gives it a raw edge, and the performances, especially from Anne Hathaway, stand out in their youthfulness and intensity. The film dives into this reckless yearning for authenticity in a world that's anything but. It’s pretty striking how it juxtaposes the privileged lives of the teens against the gritty realities of gang culture. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, which fits the chaos of the storyline. You can really feel the tension building, especially as they get deeper into trouble. The aesthetics, from the clothes to the music, definitely paint a specific picture of mid-2000s LA.
