He, She and Hamlet

The plot centers on a boarding house where young girls are kept under strict supervision. Only two men, the gardeners Pat and Patachon, are allowed entry. Their popularity among the girls stems from their musical talents, as they can play the accordion and sing various songs.

One girl, Eve, dreams of becoming an actress and captures the gardeners' admiration. They secretly rehearse Shakespeare with her, but when their activities are discovered, Eve is expelled from the boarding house. Determined to help her, Pat and Patachon follow Eve in secret and ultimately try to save her from the dangerous individuals she has unwittingly gotten involved with. The film presents a unique mix of romance and comedy set against a backdrop of societal constraints inherent to its era.
