Here We Live

The story centers on a group of young settlers who arrive in the remote Kazakh steppe in 1954. Led by the old forester Bulanbai, these newcomers confront not only the harsh environment but also the bureaucratic inertia represented by Kuanysh Korkutov, the director of the trust of state farms. Tensions arise as Korkutov's approach contrasts with the more ambitious plans of Kudryash, the director of the Komsomolsky state farm, who seeks to cultivate more promising land despite the risks involved.
