Herzlich willkommen

The narrative follows Friedrich, who escapes from East Germany and arrives in the West with hopes for a better life. Instead of the warm welcome he anticipates, he encounters difficulties in his new role as a teacher and counselor for troubled youth in a former castle. The institution is managed by a former Nazi, complicating Friedrich's efforts to connect with his students.

As he navigates the harsh realities of his job, Friedrich builds a relationship with a boy striving for a better path. Meanwhile, he also becomes involved with a fellow teacher, adding complexity to his journey. This film presents a poignant examination of resilience and human connection amidst the backdrop of post-war Germany.
