Himeyuri no To

Set during July 1944, Himeyuri no To tells the story of the Girls' Division of Okinawa Normal School and the First Okinawa Prefectural High School for Girls, known as "Himeyuri no Gakuen." As the American army approaches, the students are called back to school to prepare for their roles in the war, shifting their summer vacations to fulfill their duties as subjects of the Imperial State.

The film runs for 121 minutes and highlights the personal and collective struggles of the young girls and their teachers as they face the harsh realities of war. With a cast featuring Yasuko Sawaguchi, Kumiko Goto, and others, the film presents a poignant narrative of resilience and sacrifice during a tumultuous time in history.
