Husmandstøsen

The film follows Helga, a young girl who becomes pregnant after an encounter with her husband, Per Mortensen. Living in a small community, she faces stigma and shame from the locals due to her unmarried status. Despite her parents' inability to support the baby, Helga seeks legal help to secure her rights, but her efforts yield no results.

As her situation evolves, Helga finds a new opportunity at Torpegaarden, where she begins to thrive. There, she develops a connection with Gudmund, the son of the farm owner. Their relationship adds another layer to the narrative, highlighting the struggles and hopes of young love amidst adversity. Husmandstøsen captures the complexities of life on a farm and the societal pressures faced by women during this era.
