The film follows Andrei Bologov, a graduate of the Leningrad Party School, as he navigates the challenges of establishing peace in a region still plagued by fascist gangs in March 1946. Tasked with organizing the removal of harvested wood, Andrei faces dangerous encounters with the "forest brothers" of Krakowski.

Alongside the local village council chairman and the residents, Andrei confronts a faction of traitors and deserters who oppose the Soviet regime. The film's action sequences highlight the struggle for stability and safety in a tumultuous period of history. With a cast including Ivars Kalnins, Semyon Morozov, and others, this film presents a unique perspective on post-war challenges.
