I Want to Forget

The narrative follows Varda Deering, who transitions from being a member of the Austrian secret service to a loyal American citizen. As she navigates her new life in America, she becomes the object of admiration for many men, yet her heart remains unengaged until she meets Lieutenant John Long. Their relationship evolves from superficial attraction to genuine love, especially as John begins to see the depth of Varda's character.

Set against the backdrop of World War I, the plot thickens when Varda is drawn back into the world of espionage, agreeing to assist the U.S. Secret Service in a critical mission. Her past connections with August Von Grossman, an agent from Austria, add to the tension and intrigue of her dual life as a dancer and a spy.
